Welcome To First Grade!
Hi! My name is Mrs. Chandler. I grew up here in the Omaha area and have been a part of the Omaha Public Schools for all of my professional career I am beginning by 18th year of teaching. I have taught most age levels from Kindergarten to sixth grade. Most of my professional career has been in the classroom teaching First and Second Grades. I have been apart of the Liberty Family since it began. I enjoy seeing old and new faces of students that I have taught.
In Second Grade we grow a lot in reading, writing, and math. Second Graders continue their journeys to become smart readers, writers and thinkers. We learn how to think in depth and discuss it with others in the classroom. We explore a wide variety of subject areas and genres. We become poets and enjoy sharing our writing with our classmates and parents. We learn how addition and subtraction work together and how important having fact fluency is. We enjoy discussing books and learning how to use comprehension strategies to help us understand the text.
Your child will be expected to bring the school wide planner home everyday to be checked and signed. This is one of the ways we communicate with our families. The planner will let you know how your child did during the school day and it will also helps send important documents home. Your child will also have books to read at home every night. There will also be times that your child will have other homework to complete.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to meeting you and your child. I believe we will have an amazing year together.
