Welcome to Pre-K!
My name is Laura Marr and I am a pre-K teacher at Liberty Elementary. This is my thirteenth year of teaching. I taught for seven years in kindergarten and this is my sixth year teaching in pre-k. I began teaching in 2005 after a career in children's theatre.
I Love to Learn!
I received my Bachelor's degree in theatre from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and I was on the performance and education staff at the Rose Theatre for seventeen years. In 2005 I received my Bachelor's degree in education and student taught at Liberty Elementary. I began teaching kindergarten in that year and have had a passion for early childhood education ever since! In order to serve our English Language Learners more effectively I received my ESL graduate endorsement in 2007. By 2011 I had graduated with my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University. I am also a creative drama specialist studying with Brian Way and Virginia Koste.
I Love to Teach!
My approach to teaching and learning is to make it a FUN Experience! Students in my classroom will learn through the arts using research-based practices to optimize learning. First hand experiences are key to making connections that students will use when reading and writing. Pre-K is a year of experiences through field trips, literature and inividualized creativity. My classroom is always open to experience with your child and I hope you will visit often.
We are ready for a great school year!
